چکیده

Diabetes mellitus affects the heart through various mechanisms such as microvascular defects, metabolic abnormalities, autonomic dysfunction and incompatible immune response. Furthermore, it can also cause functional structural changes in myocardium by a disease known diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) absence of coronary artery disease. As DCM progresses causes electrical remodeling heart, left ventricular failure. Electrophysiological contribute significantly to incidence arrhythmias sudden cardiac death diabetes patients. In recent studies, significant repolarizing K+ currents, Na+ currents L-type Ca2+ along with impaired homeostasis defective contractile function have been identified heart. addition, insulin levels other trophic factors change maintain ionic channel expression There are many diagnostic tools management options for DCM, but is difficult detect its development effectively prevent progress. this review, diabetes-associated alterations voltage-sensitive ion channels comprehensively assessed understand their potential role pathophysiology pathogenesis DCM.

differentiated newt cells, but not in their mammalian counterparts. There has been some progress along these lines but not at the level of pinpointing the genetic differences. It is important to remember that there are examples, such as the axolotl lens, where a particular tissue does not regenerate even though the animal is capable of regenerating other structures. Such a context may be more f...

VOLTAGE-GATED ION CHANNELS Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels

Antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) protect against seizures through interactions with a variety of cellular targets. By affecting the functional activity of these targets, AEDs suppress abnormal hypersynchronous activity in brain circuits, leading to protection against seizures. The actions on these targets can be categorized into four broad groups: (i) modulation of voltage-gated ion channels, includi...

Voltage-Gated Lipid Ion Channels

Synthetic lipid membranes can display channel-like ion conduction events even in the absence of proteins. We show here that these events are voltage-gated with a quadratic voltage dependence as expected from electrostatic theory of capacitors. To this end, we recorded channel traces and current histograms in patch-experiments on lipid membranes. We derived a theoretical current-voltage relation...

Modeling of voltage-gated ion channels Modeling of voltage-gated ion channels

The recent determination of several crystal structures of voltage-gated ion channels has catalyzed computational efforts of studying these remarkable molecular machines that are able to conduct ions across biological membranes at extremely high rates without compromising the ion selectivity. Starting from the open crystal structures, we have studied the gating mechanism of these channels by mol...

Coupled Movements in Voltage-gated Ion Channels

Ion channels, like most other proteins, are designed to move. To preserve ionic gradients across cell membranes , they are usually closed and open their gates only when called upon to do electric work. Ionic fluxes through open channels are exploited by cells for a variety of tasks, including the generation of explosive action potentials in excitable cells. A singular feature of the ion channel...
